MORE KIDS’ SUMMER PROGRAMS AT THE LIBRARY

The Northborough Library Children’s Department has announced it’s programming for July /August 2021. It’s full of virtual and socially distant in-person fun and will keep your kids entertained. Online registration is required for most programs. Please continue to help protect our town’s children until they are eligible for vaccines. The library respectfully asks that you wear a mask and/or practice social distancing while participating in in-person events. Zoom links will be shared after registration is confirmed. Please consult the library website for any updates or changes in programming or contact the Library directly at 508-393-5025 x4.

SUMMER EVENTS

  • Tails and Tales Summer Reading Club: June 14-August 31. Celebrate the beginning of this “pawsome” summer, read amazing books and win cool prizes. Kids from birth up to those entering fifth grade are encouraged to sign up on Beanstack. Then just keep track of the minutes you read, and turn those minutes in for raffle tickets to win prizes and beads for your brag tag necklace. Information is on the library’s website.
  • Doc Toc’s Tails and Tales Town-Wide Scavenger Hunt: June 28-August 31. Have you met the new bearded dragon, Doctor Taco? Cutouts of Doctor Taco (“Doc Toc”) will be hidden around Northborough outside and at local businesses. Visit the library to receive a passport with clues to help you find them all. Snap a photo of each, then bring your list back to the library to claim a small prize!
  • Flying High Dogs at Ellsworth McAfee Park, July 29, 2-3 p.m. Mike Piazza is a multiple world finalist and world record holder in K-9 Frisbee and the current #1 Professional K-9 frisbee performer in the world. Join him and four of the most athletic Border Collies on the planet for a high-flying canine performance. Space is limited and registration is required.

MONDAYS

  • Virtual Endangered Species Trivia, July 12, 2-2:45 p.m. on Zoom. Brush up on your endangered species and join us for a virtual round of trivia. Come as a team or on your own. Zoom and Kahoot will be used and a small prize for first place will be awarded. Out of town families are welcome to play, but prizes must be picked up at the library. Register on line!
  • Lego Club on the Library Lawn, July 19, 2-3 p.m. Grab a Lego kit to build with and try to complete our challenge of the week or free build. Registration required; space is limited. 

TUESDAYS

  • Preschool Explorers at Ellsworth McAfee Park, July 6, 13, 20, and August 3; 9-9:30 a.m. Join Ms. Carly for a story time designed for preschoolers to explore STEAM related concepts through stories, songs, and an activity demonstration. Best suited for ages 4-5. The event will be cancelled in the event of rain or severe weather. 
  • Crafternoon Kits, July 6, 13, 20, 27, and August 3; 12:00 p.m. Drop by the library every Tuesday afternoon to pick up materials for a fun, new art project. Crafternoon kits available for pick up from 12-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays or while supplies last.
  • PJ Storytime on Zoom, July 6, 20, August 3; 6:15-6:45 p.m. Get dressed in your pajama best and join Ms. Lindsay for a bedtime themed storytime. Bring your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy cozy stories to end the night right. Best suited for families with children ages 2-6. Registration required.

Come as a team or on your own. There will be a small prize for first place. Families are welcome and registration is required. 

WEDNESDAYS

  • Mother Goose on the Library Lawn, July 28, 9-9:30 a.m. This is an early literacy program for children ages birth to 2 years old. Join us for a story, songs, rhymes, bouncing and fingerplays! We will use musical instruments, puppets, and other props to further children’s early learning skills. 
  • Mother Goose at Ellsworth McAffee Park, July 7, 14, 21 and August 4; 9-9:30 a.m. This is an early literacy program for children ages birth to 2 years old. Join us for a story, songs, rhymes, bouncing and fingerplays! We will use musical instruments, puppets, and other props to further children’s early learning skills.
  • Virtual Animal Bingo, July 21, 2-2:45 p.m. Join us for Bingo on Zoom! Stop by the library to pick up your Bingo card, then join our Zoom meeting for a chance to win. Families are welcome; registration required.

THURSDAYS

  • Music Mashup at Ellsworth McAfee Park, July 1, 8, 15, 22 and August 5; 9-9:30 a.m. Designed for children ages 2-5 and their whole family. This program invites children to explore movement through music, use instruments and other manipulatives, and enjoy a story or two together. This event will be cancelled in the case of rain or severe weather.

FRIDAYS

  • Toddler Time at Ellsworth McAfee Park, July 2, 9, 16, 23 and August 6; 9-9:30 a.m. This storytime is filled with age- and developmentally appropriate stories, songs, movement activities and fingerplay that build your child’s early literacy skills. For children ages 2-3 years old with a favorite adult. No registration required. The event will be cancelled in case of rain or inclement weather. 
  • Toddler Time on the Library Lawn, July 30, 9-9:30 a.m. This storytime is filled with age- and developmentally appropriate stories, songs, movement activities and fingerplay that build your child’s early literacy skills. SATURDAYS

  • Music Mashup Remix on the Library Lawn, July 17, 9-9:30 a.m. This is an engaging and interactive program developed for families with children ages 2-5. Instruments, scarves, and other manipulatives will be used while we read, dance to music and make some noise! Space is limited; registration required.
